Rumija Solar Power Plant — Montenegro's First Megawatt Renewable Energy Project
A 2.4 MW solar power plant has been commissioned on Mount Rumija near Bar, marking a significant step in Montenegro's development of renewable energy capacity.
26. May 2026A solar power plant with a total installed capacity of 2.4 megawatts was ceremonially commissioned on Mount Rumija near Bar. The project was realised in cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and private investors, with financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The power plant consists of 5,800 latest-generation solar panels and is estimated to produce around 3,500 MWh of electricity annually — enough to power approximately 1,200 households and will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by about 1,750 tonnes per year.
