Record January rainfall caused floods in the Morača River valley, with more than 200 households damaged and approximately 150 people evacuated from the most vulnerable areas. Material damage is estimated at several million euros.

Climatologists from the University of Montenegro indicate that this phenomenon is directly linked to climate change. According to their analyses, the intensity and frequency of extreme rainfall in the Balkans has increased by about 30 percent over the past 30 years.
