A team of researchers from the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro published results of a five-year study on the impact of climate change on the ecosystems of Biogradska Gora National Park, one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe.

Results show that during the observed period, the temperature in the park increased by 1.2°C, while precipitation decreased by about 8 percent. As a direct consequence, the beech vegetation zone is shifting to higher altitudes at a rate of about 6 metres per year.
