Montenegro's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) — Updated 2025 Document
Updated greenhouse gas emission reduction targets by 2030 in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
A conference was held at the Science and Technology Park in Podgorica to present the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Montenegro for 2030 and 2035.
The new NDC sets an ambitious goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 55 percent by 2030 and 60 percent by 2035, which is a huge step forward compared to the previous NDC, which predicted a reduction of 35 percent. Montenegro is among the first 16 countries in the world to adopt this document.
The NDC update was done with the dedicated and continuous support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro, using state-of-the-art methodology while respecting high European Union standards and the requirements of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
